Information for Out-of-Town Patients

Our concern and commitment to our patients’ well-being extends to ensuring patients are comfortably settled while in Los Angeles for their treatments. We are dedicated to making all of our patients feel at home, even if home is many miles away. We want to ensure that your stay in the Los Angeles area is as easy, comfortable, and serene as possible.

For out-of-town patients, the Cancer Center offers personalized care and services to help with accommodation needs. Course of treatment determines length of stay in Los Angeles, but typically, many of our patients require from one week to a couple months.

Services for Out-of-Town Patients

We offer assistance with the following services in addition to anything else you might need:

  • Medical related or local transportation
  • Travel agent to coordinate flight and hotel requirements
  • Leasing agent to assist with leasing apartment, condominium or house
  • Concierge and VIP medical care
  • Private nurses

Accommodation and Travel Arrangements

There are numerous accommodation options available to our patients, family members and friends in the Brentwood, Santa Monica, and Westside communities which are all adjacent to the Cancer Center. You can choose from furnished apartments or condominiums, hotels, and houses and depending upon your needs, housing can accommodate single people or even families. Some of our patients like to rent furnished homes by the beach which offers privacy, luxury, scenery, and serenity of the ocean. Whatever your preference, we can help you with the arrangements.

Patients typically fly into the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is just a short drive from Santa Monica where our center is located. If you need assistance for transportation to and from your hotel or the airport, we recommend CoolRide, which offers professional sedan and limousine services. You can either schedule transportation with this LA based service by calling (888) 812-2665, or we can take care of this for you. Additionally, you can use ridesharing services Uber or Lyft which have easy-to-use phone apps to schedule on-demand rides from drivers in their private vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How soon after my treatments can I board an airplane flight or take a long car ride?
A: We recommend that you remain in town during the full course of treatment before you board a long flight or drive a long distance. This is to ensure your comfort and safety, as well as the success of your recovery. You will need to discuss this matter with your treating physician, but we recommend that once your treatment ends, you should rest an additional week.

Q: How do I get to the Cancer Center?
A: Our center is located at 2811 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica. There are a few different ways to travel to the center. Patients who fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Bob Hope Airport in Burbank can take a short taxi or limousine to the center. Patients coming from cities within Southern California – such as Irvine, Newport Beach, San Diego, or Santa Barbara – may want to consider traveling by Amtrak train unless they have a family member or friend to drive them. For distances outside of Southern California, we encourage patients to fly into town.
