Dr. Wong has held prominent leadership roles in academic medicine and clinical practice. As an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Urology at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, he has trained future oncologists in cutting-edge therapeutic approaches, while advancing innovative cancer treatments.
In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Wong maintains active privileges at UCLA Medical Center and Providence Saint John’s Medical Center, where he continues to provide expert care. He is also a key member of the UCLA Endocrine Team, where his expertise in adrenal tumors and pheochromocytoma contributes to advancing knowledge in rare endocrine cancers.
Dr. Wong’s research has had a profound impact on the field of oncology. He began his research by investigating the HER2 gene in breast cancer, work that proved pivotal in the development of Herceptin and other targeted therapies that have significantly improved survival for HER2-positive patients.
He also serves as a Principal and Subprincipal Investigator for numerous clinical trials at leading institutions, including the Cancer Center of Southern California, the Sarcoma Oncology Research Center, and the Pancreatic Cancer Center of Los Angeles. Dr. Wong designs and leads studies that explore novel approaches to treating sarcomas, gastrointestinal cancers, genitourinary cancers, breast cancer, and pancreatic cancer. His research ensures patients gain access to therapies at the forefront of oncology and shapes the development of next-generation treatment protocols.
